Balco, Australia's largest exporter of oaten hay, made their first exploratory visit to Northern China in April.  Led by Tim Latchford, the recently appointed Commercial Manager for China who joins Balco from Austrade, and long term Balco Research Director, Nick Symth the team visited Beijing, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Heilongjiang.

They discussed the use of forage in dairy diets, the quality of local fodder and production challenges.  Samples of local fodder were collected to be analysed, signifying the start of Balco's survey into China's fodder industry!

MSC, America's largest processor of whey and creative fats for the animal industry, enjoyed a successful and busy time at this year's VIV.  VIV, held in Bangkok this year, was one of the busiest it has been with an increasing level of professionalism.

During 2008, MSC embarked on a strategy to get closer to their clients.  Previously MSC had marketed their range of lactose and whey permeate through international trading houses, never really knowing who their customers actually were.  The new strategy offers MSC an  opportunity to co-operate closer with their end users whilst at the same time launching the platform of creative value added products such as Energy Boaster, Fat Pack 100, MEP, Calf and Sow milk replacers and the recently registered Rumin8!

During the past two years, clients have expressed an eagerness to understand the changing dynamics of salaries within China.  Industry growth, increased responsibility and retention pressure have resulted in increases in expectations of Chinese staff.

Our salary survey consulted over 250 industry professionals. Confidentially we asked questions in relation to salary, training and development and have summarised this information in our first salary Salary Survey, which was released at VIV!

We are now further developing the survey in order to bench mark specific roles, companies and market segments to assist our clients in understanding expectations and where their position is in their staff's eyes.
